My studies of this calendar come through my teachers, Tata Mark, Nana Lu, Nana Maria, Tata Tino, and Tata Izaias, whose lineages are rooted in K’ichean and Kaqchiquel traditions of Guatemala. Yet my connection runs deeper, it is in my blood and spirit.
I am a second-generation immigrant, born in California, with Mayan and mixed descent on my father’s side from Guatemala, and Mexica and European descent on my mother’s side. Through ceremonial work with cacao and traditional fire ceremonies, I have deepened my relationship with my Indigenous ancestors, receiving direct guidance that shapes my path. Sharing this wisdom is both an honor and a responsibility, uplifting the voices of my ancestors and ensuring these teachings live on for generations.
